My how things have changed!

Well, two years ago this scene was a lot different! An O'Grady/Thompson backyard get together was just four of us big kids...and no little ones were even on the horizon yet! Now with the twins and Miss Maddie, four has become 7. And I don't think any of us would prefer the old days to now!

The Queen of the Cabin and the Viceroy of Verlot

It's a Davisson Family tradition to spend Memorial Day weekend at the cabin. So we decided to be brave and hit the road with the kiddos. Six plus hours each way...but it was worth it to spend some time with Grandma, Grandpa, Scott, Karen and lots more friends and family.

Yesterday the kids were having a grand old time playing together. They were sitting toe to toe and Charlie was trying to grab the sparkley hearts on Amelia's I heart Mom shirt. She would lean down and grab his hand and seriously try to bite it and then laugh hysterically! She cracks herself up a lot. She never really got him. It will be scary when they have mouths full of teeth!

Chunky Monkeys!

So, I weighed the children yesterday. Amelia Marie weighs in at a bruising 26.5 pounds. As you might guess she enjoys just about any kind of food you put in front of her. It really is about the cutest thing you've ever seen when she gets to chowing. The girl loves to eat. Charles Robe comes in at a whopping 25 pounds even. He is a little pickier with food. He doesn't really like to pick food up himself, but will usually eat it once you stick it in his mouth. Although he will squish avocado or banana in his little fingers, so it's not like he doesn't want to get his hands down and dirty. He always makes a face like you're trying to poison him, but usually will mush it up with his three teeth and swallow. He makes a lot of yum yum noises when eating his yogurt or cereal or whatever is on the day's menu. Feeding time is messy, but generally pretty fun.

Yesterday we loaded the kids in their new car seats and headed for the hills, looking for Morels. Only found a few - but it was just enough for a great Sunday morning omelet! Charlie and Amelia had fun, checking out all kinds of new stuff. We are now realizing all the things we can start doing with them. It will be time for swimming pretty soon!

These kids are growing so fast it's making our heads spin. We got new car seats for them. It will make traveling in the truck much easier. Mommy gets to be in the front seat again! These are the last car seats we will need. First two cribs, now this.

Time to start bloggin about those babes!

I've really been putting this off, but it's time to start. The twins are changing SO fast. 8.5 months old and more amazing than ever. Rolling all over and it seems like crawling is just days away. We put up the 2nd crib on April 25th. They were really getting cramped. And now there is no way they could share. Amelia sleeps sideways, and Charlie has been flopping onto his tummy.
Amelia is making the cutest sounds now...dadadada in a cute breathy little whisper. Daddy loves it. I'm working on the mamamama sounds. Charlie is vocal to0 - saying Ohhhhh! and also adorable baby babble.
They are getting to be really funny with each other. The other day the three of us were sitting on the floor and Charlie grabbed Amelia from behind and hooked her cheek with his hand and pulled her over. We all went into hysterics. Amelia and I giggled for 10 minutes. We'd stop for a second, look at each other and start again. After about 5 or so Charlie started looking at us like we were crazy.
Curt told a funny story about them the other morning. They have Daddy's old cell phone...which they love. Charlie had it and Amelia was trying to grab it from him. She always wants to take what he has, but he has finally wised up and will try to hold it out of her reach. So she didn't like that much and pushed him over and tried to bite his foot.
There is also a lot of grabbing ears and hair. Sometimes this is funny, sometimes not so much.
They are really getting into food now. They love to feed themselves puffs. We are working on some chunkier things, but this is a slower process. They had pickles the other day. Didn't really eat them, but really enjoyed sucking all the juice out. They really love mangos, bananas and avocado in the little mesh bags. Summer will be lots of fun with all kinds of new fruits to discover.
